Die Szenarien, für die dieses Buch gedacht ist, sind schrecklich: Mal angenommen, ein tödliches Virus hat den Großteil der Bevölkerung dahingerafft. Oder ein Asteroid schlägt auf der Erde ein und vernichtet fast alles Leben - was macht man da als Überlebender? Das Buch ist eine Schnellanleitung für ein "Reboot" unserer Zivilisation. Sachlich schildert der Autor, welche Probleme - je nach Art der Katastrophe - dann gelöst werden müssen: Beschaffung von Lebensmitteln, sauberem Wasser, Kleidung und Medikamenten, Erzeugung von Energie, das Zusammenbauen von wichtigen Geräten, z.B. durch das Ausschlachten verbliebenen Materials ... Die Anleitung ist pragmatisch und verständlich geschrieben und führt dem Leser vor Augen, wie die einfachsten Dinge wie z.B. Butter oder Seife hergestellt werden, wie eine Uhr funktioniert oder wie man Papier produziert - und wie wenig man heute von solchen Dingen noch weiß. Diese grundlegende Wissensvermittlung macht das Buch auch ohne Katastrophe schon interessant - im "worst case", der hoffentlich nie eintritt, wäre es ein wahrer Schatz. (1) (Heidi Debschütz) |
